The photos below were taken on December 31, 2002.

Construction on the Paul G. Allen Center for Computer Science & Engineering commenced in October 2001. Concrete work was completed in August 2002. "Topping out" (placing of the final piece of structural steel) took place in October 2002, one year from the start of construction. As of New Year's Eve 2002, brickwork is complete on the front of the building, the atrium roof is nearly closed, and the construction crane is about to be removed. The project is on schedule for completion in time for the start of classes in Autumn 2003. It will more than double the total space available to UW's Department of Computer Science & Engineering, and more than triple the department's laboratory space.
