The Paul G. Allen Center for Computer Science & Engineering

Support for the Campaign for CSE comes from all sectors of the technology community in the Puget Sound region -- from individuals and corporations who appreciate the role of UW Computer Science & Engineering as an engine of innovation and opportunity.

The Paul G. Allen Center for Computer Science & Engineering will increase CSE's total space by a factor of 2.5 and its laboratory space by a factor of 3, taking the program to new levels of impact and excellence!

The cost of the new facility is $72 million. $42 million of this is being raised privately. In addition, $3 million in technology for the building plus $20 million in endowment funds for scholarships, fellowships, and professorships -- "the people part" -- are also being sought as part of the Campaign for CSE.

Where are we in the Campaign for CSE? The Campaign for CSE is led by Tom Alberg (Madrona Venture Group), Jeremy Jaech (CSE alumnus and co-founder of Aldus and Visio), and Ed Lazowska (Bill & Melinda Gates Chair in Computer Science and head of the department from 1993-2001).

Thanks to the extraordinary generosity of our many alumni and friends, as of July 2003 we have concluded the capital portion of the Campaign for CSE -- $42 million in private funds have been committed! (UW press release here (pdf).) Thank you!

What’s next? With completion of the building now assured, we turn our attention in earnest to endowment funds for scholarships, fellowships, and professorships.

Your commitment will make a difference! Your gift, given as a one-time payment or pledged over several years, will help ensure the continued excellence and competitiveness of UW Computer Science & Engineering. You will join nearly 250 other alumni and friends who see UW CSE as a place where tomorrow’s technology leaders are nurtured and where innovation is championed.

Make a gift! Contact Ed Lazowska (lazowska at cs.washington.edu) or Anne Fitzmaurice Adams (anne@engr.washington.edu) to make a gift or to find out more about supporting the Campaign for CSE. You can pledge today by completing and returning the form linked here. Your gift is tax deductible. Also, contact your employer to inquire about possible matching programs.
