2. Washington Research Foundation Suite and Sylvan Grove (Main Floor)
When we left Sieg Hall, we did not leave CSE history
behind. A striking piece of that history is the unique
Steam-Powered Turing Machine mural, painted with tongue in
cheek by a group of students in 1987. It filled a wall in
a Sieg Hall stairwell. We had the mural photographed,
reproduced, and placed where everyone can enjoy it.
Be sure to take a close look.
To the left of the mural, follow the hallway into the
main administrative suite and you will be at the chair's
conference room. Our new building for the twenty-first
century also honors the UW's nineteenth-century
origins. The chair's conference room has a great view
of the Sylvan Grove and the four classic columns from
the Territorial University, built in 1861 at Fourth
Avenue and University Street in the heart of downtown. |
