We’ve been very flexible about allowing people to bring bicycles into Sieg Hall. In the Allen Center, in order to protect the building (avoiding damage to carpets, floors, the wood finishing, etc.) and to comply with WAC 478-116-605 (the applicable Washington State law) bikes will not be allowed to be stored in offices, labs or other areas in the building. This is not a problem, however, since there will be no need to bring bicycles into the building because we have a brand new bike room that will be available for day storage of bicycles. The bike room is located in CSE #082, with an entrance off the new loading dock. It will be accessible via cardkey at all times and days. If you choose to park your bike in the bike room, please consider the following guidelines, which will help maximize the number of parking spaces, as well as, keep the area neat and safe:

• If your bike is stored in a bike room, please make sure the door is secured upon your exit.
• Only lock your bike to designated racks within the room.
• Racks will be available daily on a first-come, first-serve basis.
• There is not enough space in the bike room for long-term storage. For this reason, only leave your bike in the bike room on the days you use it to commute to CSE.
• Report suspicious activity or loitering around the bike room.

General tips for keeping your bike safe(whether storing it in the CSE bike room or not)

• Use U-type locks, not chains. Chains are too easily cut.
• Always lock your bike to a designated bicycle rack.
• Where possible, either lock or take with you parts that are easily removed
• Mark your bicycle with your Driver's License number, and be sure to keep a record of the bike’s make, model, and serial number to aid in its recovery
