The biggest change from Sieg Hall is that our graduate students will be the custodians for the Allen Center as part of our new cost savings measures.
OK, OK, the biggest real change will be that the custodial crew will be on day shift as opposed to swing shift. We've had extensive discussions with UW's Custodial Services about this, and we're going to try it and see if it works. We will work closely with them to make sure that noisy work (such as vacuuming) is done before most people arrive in the Allen Center in the morning. (The custodians' day shift starts earlier than most of our day shifts.)
We don't expect the woodwork in offices and labs to be dusted frequently, if ever, by the custodial crew. Therefore, we will supply a "Pledge"-like substance and some dustrags in the supply closet. Please take advantage of these!
Please, like now, report any complaints, concerns, and observations about the custodial care in the Allen Center to cse-maintenance, so we can make sure we get the support we need to keep the Allen Center beautiful.
