Spills happen! If you spill food or drink on the carpet or furniture, please follow these guidelines to help us keep our new building beautiful (and clean) for years to come!

• Grab a First Response clean up kit from the closest lounge/kitchen.
• If the spill is something other than a liquid, first carefully remove as much of the solid material as possible.
• Place water-dampened paper towels over the spill (do not rub or scrub!).
• Using your hand or foot, blot the spill.
• With water-dampened paper towels, continue to blot the spill until the stain is gone.
• NOTE: Use only plain water!
• If the spill occurs in the evening or on the weekend, leave a damp paper towel on top of the stain overnight.
• Please email cse-maintenance and report the spill. We will have custodial follow up with appropriate cleaning solutions.

First Response clean up kits are located in the cabinet of the lounge/kitchen on each floor. Kits contain sponges, paper towels, squirt bottle filled with water, and disposable gloves.

If items are missing from the spill kit, send email to cse-maintenance. Please return the kit to once you are finished.

Of particular concern are spills of the following substances:

• Soda pop
• Coffee or tea
• Wine, beer
• Ketchup or tomato-based sauces
• General food spills, especially oily foods

Please do not ignore a spill! Permanent stains can be prevented by quick clean up following the easy procedure above.
