CSE 142

We made to major changes to our TVI courses starting fall quarter. These changes were the result of substantial feedback that we received from previous offerings of the courses, and are being implemented in order to improve the educational experience of the students who participate in the TVI courses.

First of all, we will use studio produced lectures, instead of relying on a video tape of the live lecture. Our archived versions of the live lectures did lose some of the material that the instructor presented, and also had some material that was extraneous for students not taking the course live at UW. The studio produced lectures are substantially shorter than the live ones, which leaves more class time available for discussions.

The other major change is in the administration of the courses. Instead of centralizing the grading at UW, the grading will become the responsibility of the local instructor. This will improve the course logistics, and we expect it will also improve student satisfaction. We will continue to produce homework assignments and exams for the TVI courses.

If you are interested in offering CSE 142 in TVI format, please contact Professor Richard Anderson.

CSE 143

We are planning to record a studio version of CSE 143 during fall quarter, so we anticipate that the 143 lecture materials will be available Winter 2001.
