Course Scheduling Requests

If you have special needs or if the classroom you have been assigned is inadequate (e.g., need a larger capacity room than anticipated, have technology requirements such as projectors or network connections), make sure to contact Pim Lustig as soon as you are aware of the situation and certainly a few weeks before the start of the quarter. Make sure to be as specific as possible about your capacity and technology requirements. Courses on our yearly schedule are automatically assigned classrooms near Sieg. Most are in Loew, Mechanical Engineering, or Electrical Engineering (old and new). You can view the Classroom Schematics to check out seating capacity, technology, equipment, etc.

One-time Scheduling Requests

If you require a classroom (or other type of room) for a special one-time only event or anything besides a regular course or seminar, then contact Pim Lustig with your requirements.

Classroom Technology

Contact Classroom Support Service at (206)543-9900 or classrm@u.washington.edu. Or view their Classroom Schematics for details about technology, equipment, seating capacity, and more.

A special note (thanks to Hal Perkins) about the projectors in EE1. After you've hooked up your laptop to the pc video plug on the podium, touch the screen. The display that appears has several tab buttons across the top. Don't press the one labeled Computer right away. Instead, the first thing you should do is press Start (the leftmost tab). Then press Computer and touch the Large Screen square in the control pane that appears. Assuming your laptop is putting out a good video signal and the cable is ok, the projector should work after a short warmup.

Explanation: Among other things, the Start tab sends a reset signal to the projector and puts it in a standby mode. If you don't do this and the projector is already on, there's a good chance that it's locked in to some previous signal and won't recognize the video signature of the new laptop you just plugged in.

When you're done with the room, the CSS folks suggested pressing Start again to leave the room in a more sensible state for the next person, or else press Finish (rightmost tab), which, in addition, will turn the room lights up full and raise the screen.
