Assignments, Projects, Labs

 

Assignment 0: The first four questions of this assignment are due before the first lab sections on Tuesday, March 30. The remainder of the assignment is due before the second lecture on Wednesday, March 31. You are allowed to get help from a friend or Lab Consultant on this assignment.

Assignment 1: Read Chapter 1 in Great Ideas. Due April 2.

Assignment 2: Construct your first Web page. Due before lab on April 6, 1999.

Assignment 3: Enhance your web page. Due by lab on Thursday, April 8, 1999.

Assignment 4: Read Chapter 1, 2 and 3 as needed in Beginning VB6.

Project 1: Astrological Toys. "What's your sign?" Keep track with the changes of the Zodiac with a digital clock, look up a sign given a date with Sign Finder, report the interval spanned by a Zodiac sign, and formulate a set of questions to find out a person's birthday. Due dates: Clock due April 13, 1999, Zodiac due April 15, Day Finder due April 20.

Project 2: "Yes, But Is It Art?" Due dates: first submission, start of lab on Thursday, April 29; second submission, start of lab, Thursday, May 6th. Remember to label where your program fulfills the requirements. Note that requirement d (function) is now for extra credit (i.e. optional).

Lab Handout, Thursday, May 6 - Array Variables and Indexing

Project 3: "The Road Less Traveled By" Understand how traffic lights affect commuting in the U-District. (Software is available in the file archive.) Due dates: Parts 3.1-3.4 are due in Lab on Thursday, May 13th. The remaining parts are due in Lab on Tuesday, May 18th.

Lab Handout, Thursday, May 11 - Remember Functions (?)

Assignment 5: Read Chapter 13 of Visual Basic 6.0 and step through the exercises. Complete before Lab on May 20th.

Project 4: "Here's To Your Health" The mythical Central District Clinic needs a state-of-the-art information system to aid its mission of HIV and other STD testing . Design the tables, relationships, forms and reports to make the office run smoothly and professionally. Part I due May 27th. Project 4, Part II is due June 3rd.
