CSE 373: Virtual Sections

Virtual Sections

Role in the Course:This quarter we are introducing "virtual sections" in order to help compensate for the lack of official section meetings in CSE 373. Participation in virtual sections is voluntary. Participants can get a small amount of class participation credit for completing particular steps. The virtual section activities will usually be geared to helping study for tests and helping with projects.
When: The first virtual section activity will take place October 20-22. You can participate any time during this period. However, there will be a deadline of noon Thursday, October 21 in order to receive participation points for this activity.
How to Participate: There are three steps to participating.
  1. First, log onto the class forum on the INFACT system. If you do this before the deadline, you will receive one participation point. (Easy!). Log in using your UWNetID as your username and your student number as your password. When you are in, change your password to something private that you can remember. (We plan to open the forum this afternoon.)
  2. Second, read the sample questions posted by the instructor and reply to one of those messages with your own answer. If you provide a solution to any one of these by the Thursday noon deadline, you will receive a second participation point. Your answer will be kept private until Thursday noon. Then it will be available to all members of your virtual section. (There are three virtual sections: Group A, Group B, and Group C.)
  3. Third, read and, if appropriate, comment on other students' answers to sample questions in order to study for the midterm exam that's scheduled for Monday, October 25. Although we will not be awarding participation points for this third part of the activity, you will benefit from an engagement with other students in the subject matter to be covered by the test.
