Scene description: 4 cubes + 1 sphere

The 4 cubes are aligned as:
(0,1,0),
(0,-1,0),
(-0.7,0,0.7),
(0.7,0,0.7)

(Top, bottom, left, right)

so that one side of each cube joins to form a semi-open space (cavity?),
which in the middle a sphere floats in mid-air.

Two spot lights (red/blue) pour light into the cavity at an angle from above and bottom 

The cubes' reflective surfaces creates the effect seen in the picture.
