CSE477 Project
A capstone design course is a senior-level course in which you
apply what you have learned in your undergraduate major to the design,
construction, and documentation of a sizable engineering product. The project
experience has several elements, including:
-
Students work in groups to learn how to partition responsibilities, define
interfaces, and integrate separately designed elements
-
The project includes both written and oral design reviews
-
The product brochure is a sales pitch for your product
-
The final report documents all the technical aspects of your project, in
sufficient detail that another engineer, without prior knowledge, can completely
understand your design
Your project must include the following components::
-
Interacting hardware and software.
-
The hardware must communicate with the environment (camera, accelerometer,
A/D converter, D/A converter, etc).
-
The software must have to deal with reactive, real-time situations.
-
The project must employ a communications interface either between components
of the system, or to another system.
Please see the list of suggested projects, as
well as project webs and capstone videos from 1996-1999 here
and 2000 here.
These links will give you an idea of the scale and scope required of your
projects.
The instructor will attend lab on Tuesday, April 3 and Thursday, April
5 to discuss each team's project proposal.
