I pretty much designed it then had DH to refine the design, at which he did an awesome job and finally ended up with what he's now. The name is a combination of Samurai and Ninja which we decided to stick to. DH mapped it and we sent it out to 8 skinners at first, which ended up to be quite alot more. 16 have finished theirs and it's a great pak of skins. My goal was to go for something realistic to practise on my skills. After Magdalena I wanted to improve technically rather than conceptually and DH and I decided to do Samjai as a small project inbetween original stuff. But the project turned out to be very big and take alot longer. I did a few animations back in october, but got hired by a dutch company doing contract work as lead character artist (design, modeling and animation) which slowed down the process alot. By the time I got back to samjai, I hated the rig an old animations and started from scratch. At first the left arm was the upper body part, but it only clipped through the shoulder place and restricted the animations, so when I redid it everything became lower. It won't run very well in game compared to alot of other meshes due to the high polycount, shaders or large skin files and big number of animation frames. However, if you have the system for it it should work quite well in game. The lack of an upper isn't very bad in my opinion, and the taunt is replaced by the 11 sec idle. If it wasn't obvious already, this is a model done for art's sake, but it's very usable in game if you have the system for it. I hope you enjoy this model.
