Rules of Sieg 228
- No Food or Drinks in the Lab -- EVER
- The very far left button (next to the LED) is a power button. Do not
touch this. Don't turn the SGI's off, don't reboot them. Rebooting
has actually damaged disk drives, according to the system administrator.
Also, many of the SGI's are servers for the rest of the lab -- a single
reboot has brought down the entire lab more than once.
- If for some reason, you get hung, mail support@cs. They will take care
of this for you.
- The two triangle buttons are volume controls. You can also access volume
through software with the Audio Panel. Be courteous when playing games,
or viewing demos: keep a low volume, or use headphones.
- Everytime you log out, check for runaway processes, especially when using
CaseVision.
- If you need to leave your workstation for a few minutes, you can use
xlock for security. If you plan to be gone for more than 15 minutes though,
log out.
- Feel free to open the windows if it gets hot, but if you are the last one
to leave the lab, make sure they are closed.
- The lab has copies of two graphics texts and four of the SGI guides and
reference texts. These may not leave the lab, and please return them
to the bookshelf when you are done using them.
