Computer science is a fast-moving field whose innovations are revolutionizing many aspects of our lives including healthcare, sustainability, disaster relief and entertainment.

In CSE 142, we will explore several of computer science's big ideas through its main tool: programming.

  • [5/27] The IPL will be closed Monday, May 27 for Memorial Day.
  • [5/21] This week's exploration session will be on Python, another programming language. Our TA, Tyler, will discuss some of the similarities and differences between Java and Python and show how we'd implement some of the things we've discussed in 142 in Python, this Thursday, 5/23 at 3:30 in AND 223
  • [5/12] The IPL will be closed Sunday, May 12th through Tuesday, May 14th. Happy week after midterms!

  • [4/10] The UW Computer Security Capture the Flag team is looking for new members. Meetings are on Thursdays at 5:30pm in CSE 303. Anyone can join the team and no experience is required. This week's meeting will include a mini-hackathon and talking about the upcoming PlaidCTF competition.
