CSE143 Winter 2005 - Project #2 Report
Gene Data Search - The Writeup
Due: Monday, Feb. 28 by 5 pm. No late assignments will be
accepted.
You may hand your report in during lecture on Monday, or bring
it to the CSE main office in the Allen Center during regular office
hours Monday (9am-noon and 1-5pm).
For this last part of the project, you should write by
yourself a written report about your project using the detailed report
guidelines on the course web site. The project report is an
important part of the project, and counts for a significant part of the
overall score that you receive for your work.
Some specific suggestions to go along with the report
guidelines:
- Describe how you decided to organize your gene data, codon
translation data, (and whatever else you might have) after reading it
in:
- What sort of data structures did you use?
- Were there any difficulties? How did you work
around them?
- Anything you'd like to do differently if you had more
time?
- Describe how your searches operate:
- What algorihms or procedures did you come up with
(especially for edit distance and for searches over all gene sequences).
- Remember to point out work you did for extra credit!
- If you implemented a GUI or other user interface, please
tell us how to use it!
Grading: Your report will be evaluated both for
its technical content and for the quality of the writing, both on a
scale of 0-4. The project
assessment guidelines have more details.
