Which One is the Rock Head?
1. Creating Saddam's head
Step 1a: Take image of Saddam:
Step 1b: Make a mask for it using intelligent scissors:
Step 1c: Use Photoshop to multiply the two images:
Step 1d: Use Photoshop to flip the image:
2. Creating Osama's head
Step 2a: Take image of Osama:
Step 2b: Make a mask for it using intelligent scissors:
Step 2c: Use Photoshop to multiply the two images:
3. Preparing Mt. Rushmore for Facial Reconstruction
Step 3a: Take image of Mt. Rushmore:
Step 3b: Use Photoshop to paint over the original faces (you can also clear out the face
regions using intelligent scissors, applying the mask, then filling in the remaining white spots, but
simply painting over the faces is faster).
4. Inserting Heads Into Mt. Rushmore (Photoshop Stuff)
Step 4a: Use Photoshop to shrink the heads down to match the head sizes in Mt. Rushmore.
Step 4b: Convert the heads to grayscale and back again (to discard the color information, but
still be able to apply color to them).
Step 4c: Copy the heads into the Mt. Rushmore image, and paint over them with a translucent brush
to (mostly) match the surrounding colors.
Step 4d: If the resulting faces look too yellow, use the "Image->Adjust->Replace Color" Photoshop
command, and adjust the hue, saturation, and lightness.
Step 4e: Now that the colors look decent, use a smudge tool to smooth out the "scissor lines" between
the Rushmore image and the faces.
5. Changing Facial Hair to Stone
Step 5a: The black facial hair doesn't look good, so select it using the Photoshop magic wand. (If you
felt like it, you could mask it out with intelligent scissors). Then, move the selection
to a portion of the image with the colors you want (in this case, something stony), and copy/paste the new moustache/eyebrows/turbin on.
Step 5b: ...
Step 5c: Profit!
