Disembodied Dragon Symphony in Carnival #5

Description:
Floating aimlessly above a plane, a dragon with a gaping mouth can be seen, festive lights cause a riot of color, mirrors captures the back and side angles of the dragon, and still the mouth hangs open, like a goldfish permanently mounted.

Process:
This scene was rendered with two black perfect-mirrors and three light sources.

The dragon head was the most difficult part. It was modeled in an external application, exported as a binary format, converted to an ascii format, and then converted to ray format using a parser I quickly wrote in Java.

In order for the scence to work I had to implement normal interpolation, otherwise the dragon would have appeared chunky and facetted.
