General description for Winter 1997
- Computer technology, the Internet, and new methodologies
for teaching and learning are currently coming together in
new ways. This seminar will explore a few of them.

This quarter's 590D seminar will focus on two activities:
1. reading and analyzing the growing body of online literature
on learning with technology, and
2. presentations and demos of systems related to our research.
Jan 7: Organizational meeting.
Jan 13: Demo of NetMeeting; discussion of the paper
by Jacobson and Levin. Discussion led by Steve.
Jan 20: Discussion of the position papers for the
Workshop on Design and Use of MUDs for Serious Purposes.
Discussion led by Michael. Here is a
plan.
Feb 11: Brainstorming session on collaborative
learning. Here is an
outline.
Meetings are scheduled for Tuesdays 2:30-3:20 in Sieg 224.
Visits to the Meany Middle School and the Washington Middle School
may be scheduled, depending on the interests of the participating
students.
