Announcement

We would like to announce formation of the biweekly "Information Technology for Developing Regions" discussion group this summer. In this reading group, we will be reading materials and discussing potential research directions focusing on the application of Information Technology to meet socio-economic development challenges around the world. It will be coordinated jointly by Microsoft Research, Intel Research Seattle and the UW Dept. of Computer Science.

The reading group will take a domain look at several application areas in the development space, to identify particular and common technical challenges in each. It will focus on identifying concrete practical applications and the research challenges in achieving them.

The group will start Thursday, July 1st from 10AM - 11AM, at Microsoft Research and alternate locations with Intel Research Seattle. The summer schedule and readings can be found on the course Wiki. Username and password are both cse590dw.

Please subscribe to our mailing list for further updates.
