CSE 590GB - Location-Aware Computing

Gaetano Borriello

As more of our electronic devices include the ability to communicate wirelessly, they can also be localized. In this graduate-level course, we'll review the literature in this emerging field, survey location-aware applications that have been developed, and consider the privacy issues these new technologies bring to the fore.

The course is divided into two parts. In the first part, we'll review the literature in this emerging field, survey location-aware applications that have been developed, and consider the privacy issues these new technologies bring to the fore. In the second, students will prototype their own location-aware applications. We will provide some basic components and infrastructure for developing location-aware applications for the Allen Center.

We meet Tuesday and Thursday mornings 9:00-10:30 in MGH 288.
