Description: This course introduces students to basic computational methods for understanding what nervous systems do, determining how they function, and uncovering the computational principles governing their operation. Areas covered include vision, sensory-motor control, learning, and memory. Specific topics include representation of information by spiking neurons, processing of information in neural circuits, and algorithms for adaptation and learning. Matlab demonstrations and exercises will be provided to facilitate a deeper understanding of concepts and methods covered in the course.
