Description

This seminar will explore interesting research in Ubiquitous Computing (UbiComp). It is designed to bring together students, researchers and faculty from diverse areas of computer science. This quarter we will focus on two broad topics: context and UbiComp support for education and collaboration. We will address both topics from a variety of perspectives to highlight the interdisciplinary nature of UbiComp research.

Additionally, you are encouraged to look at at least one of the actual projects:

  • Daknet: the bus-based IP protocol ("bus" here means a vehicle with four wheels, etc)
  • Simputer: the low-cost, low-power handheld device (see an old paper)
  • Wireless in Local Loop: technology for creating village-based LAN/WANs
The documentation for the last one of these projects is probably most complete.
