Announcements

• The course will be similar to its previous incarnation, with some updating and some additional material at the end (we have a slightly longer quarter this time). Note that only one text is required this time. The implementation part of the course may or may not use the same software as last summer; in either case, it will all be accessible from off-campus. The DBMS software we use will probably be SQL/Server, made by an obscure software company in Redmond. That also will be made available to you both on campus (in the PMP lab) and off. We may also do some hands-on work with an OODBMS, but this may require you to have an XWindows emulator, so I may not actually require this (though I'll at least provide access to the system for the curious to play with).
• The textbook: Yes, it exists now; it was published in August and I'm looking at a copy. It is in at the UW bookstore.
• Final Exam: scheduled for Thursday December 9, 6:30PM - 8:20PM, on campus. This requires all students to be on campus.
• DINNER and ON-CAMPUS-ONLY CLASS: Monday October 4, dinner 5:15 - 6:30, EE1 403, class to follow in EE1 105. This is a great opportunity to come and meet your classmates, instructor, TA, PMP co-ordinator, and (we hope) instructors for current and future PMP courses. Both vegetarian and meat dishes will be available. There will be no feeds to off-campus locations for this class, but it will be videotaped and available via the web afterwards.

Email sent to cse594@cs.washington.edu will go to all list members (students, TA, and instructor). You can post questions there; I will post answers and announcements.
• Submitting the Heapfile Code: As announced in class, please email it to Stefan (tzoompy@cs), with your group number in the subject line or in the text. (Don't know your group number? Check here.) If possible, please include the files as attachments to your message. Submit heapfile.C and, optionally, error.C and error.h. If you didn't make any changes to error.[Ch] then we'll just use the ones we provided.
