Homework for week #7 – Mock-up of Application Screens

For this assignment you will prepare a collection of mock-up for all (or at least most) of the screens your application will present to the user.  At the very least there should be a representative of each major screen type.  You should arrange them at most two per page (ideally, one in the top-left quadrant and one in the top-right quadrant).  The descriptions should be immediately below each screen image.  A typical project is likely to have about 8-12 of these (corresponding to about 4-6 pages).  Of course, this may be different for your project.  From your description, the reader should not be left wondering if there is a missing screen.  Try to be clear about which screen will follow which other in a normal usage scenario (as much as you can).  Make sure to include a picture of your application icon if you have already come up with one.

The medium for generating these screen shots can be anything you wish.  It can be photos from a real phone, screen capture from the emulator, spliced together graphics in PowerPoint or Illustrator (or any other software tool), or even scanned in images of drawings on paper.  The important thing is that the mock-ups capture the general information content and purpose of each screen.  Your captions should explain all the visual elements on the screen (if you need more room for text, feel free to have only one screen on a page, but do try to keep the screen and explanatory text together on a single page) and their purpose as well as what pushing a button might lead to (including the next screen the user might see).

These should provide excellent material for your final report and a guide to the more complete/final figures you will need for that.
