CSE Study Abroad Opportunities

Currently, the CSE department offers two direct exchange agreements: with KTH in Stockholm, Sweden and ETH in Zurich, Switzerland. Both year-long programs give students the opportunity to take computer science & engineering courses at outstanding international universities with the high likelihood that the classes will transfer back as direct major equivalents.

Please keep in mind that CSE students interested in studying abroad are not limited to these two programs. In particular, opportunities to fulfill language, Areas of Knowledge, and other major requirements abound at institutions around the world. The UW International Programs & Exchange Office provides a helpful search tool for finding UW or departmental exchanges in specific countries of interest.

The ETH/KTH Study Abroad Application is now available for CSE majors. Students must submit applications no later than 5pm on Monday, February 18th.

Information for International Students Interested in CSE Courses

While the department strongly supports international exchange programs, space in undergraduate CSE courses is extremely limited due to the high demand for our major. We strongly encourage students interested in pursuing computer science studies to look into one-for-one exchanges, like the KTH or ETH programs, since they are space-neutral for our courses. If you are a student participating in another exchange program, please work closely with UW International Programs & Exchanges, as well as the CSE advisors, before planning your UW studies, to determine what options are available.
