What is Non-Matriculated status?
Non-Matriculated status allows you to enroll in courses at the University of Washington without being formally admitted as a regular student. If you want to take classes at the University of Washington, but you are not seeking a degree, then you want Non-Matriculated status.

GNM vs. Regular Non-Matriculated status
There are two types of Non-Matriculated status: Graduate Non-Matriculated (GNM) and regular Non-Matriculated. The type you want depends on your goals.

Regular Non-Matriculated
If you do not plan to use your Non-Matriculated coursework toward an advanced degree at the University of Washington, then you need regular Non-Matriculated status. Students transferring graduate coursework back to their home institutions should use this option. See instructions below.

Note that Computer Science & Engineering does not accept GNM applications. Those interested in taking graduate courses in our department must use the Regular Non-Matriculated status to do so.

Instructions for Regular Non-Matriculated Status
