1.  Set up your UW Net ID (if you don’t already have one)

https://uwnetid.washington.edu/newid/

Your CSE payroll coordinator will provide you with information on how to set up your UWNet ID as soon as your appointment is entered into the UW payroll system.
(You will be asked for your EID. Your EID is a 9 digit number assigned to you by the Payroll Office. It is not your social security number. If you have received a paycheck, your EID appears on your paystub. If you do not know your EID, contact your Payroll Coordinator.)
Please complete the following forms on-line after obtaining your UWNet ID.

2. Personal Information:

https://prp.admin.washington.edu/ess/uwnetid/address.aspx

Employees must verify and/or update their emergency contact and address information.
Note:  Another screen will come up for you to send a notification to your department. Always contact your department when any update has been made.

3. Proof of Employment Eligibility:

We are strictly required by DHS to verify your eligibility for employment. Please present your ID (please note minimum requirements) to Payroll Coordinator Ryan Jones at CSE 140, at your earliest convenience.

4. Affirmative Action:

https://prp.admin.washington.edu/AffirmativeAction/UWNETID/AAform.asp

5. Direct Deposit:

https://prp.admin.washington.edu/ess/uwnetid/directdeposit.aspx

Direct Deposit is optional, but we encourage everyone to do this.  For more information, see http://www.washington.edu/admin/payroll/directdeposit.html.

6. Withholding ( Update W-4)

https://prp.admin.washington.edu/ess/uwnetid/taxes.aspx

A W-4 form must be completed upon initial hire. If the form is not completed, Payroll Office will default the withholding to the highest rate; single and with zero allowances.

6. Hourly employees: UW Timesheet

Timesheet link: https://prp.admin.washington.edu/ess/uwnetid/timesheet.aspx

Since SPRING 2007, we have implemented a new UW Timesheet. Info and instructions on using the new timesheet system can be found here:

http://www.washington.edu/admin/payroll/Timesheet_Info_employee.html.

*** Qs & As about the new timesheet *** :

How can you tell if you're already on the UW Timesheet?
1. Go to MYUW | ESS. If you have a /timesheet/ tab, you're on it.
2. The UW Timesheet system sends a one-line email reminder early morning the last day of each pay period (more reliable than mine!)

Where may you learn more (and see an animated tutorial)?
http://www.washington.edu/admin/payroll/Timesheet_viewlets.html

Due dates for submittal are the 15th and the 30th/31st of each month--you will receive a reminder email when it comes time to do this.

** VERY IMPORTANT **

Be sure to report all the time you spend on your TA duties: attending lecture, grading, office hours, prep time, meetings, etc. Undergraduates are limited to working a maximum of 19.5 hours per week for ALL their UW jobs. Contact me if you feel your job requires more than 19.5/week.

Contact Pim Lustig (pl at cs.washington.edu) with any questions or problems.
