Technology Programs for Youth

The UW CSE department often receives inquiries from parents and teachers about computer science-related programs for youth in Washington State. Some of the programs listed on the page are affiliated with the UW, and others are not. Questions about any of these programs should be directed to the listed contact for that particular program and not to UW CSE.

    UW-Affiliated Youth Programs & Services

    EdLab Group Summer Programs: This comprehensive list was put together by the EdLab Group in 2008. Programs and prices are likely to have changed.

    DigiPen ProjectFUN: DigiPen ProjectFUN is committed to presenting a high quality education by engaging and challenging K-12 students through hands-on learning for future careers in the digital entertainment industry. ProjectFUN offers summer exploratory workshops, introductory clubs, and preparatory classes in game development, animation, and robotics.

    FIRST Robotics: Founded in 1989, FIRST pairs students aged 6-18 with team mentors, coaches, and community volunteers in engaging robotics activities and competitions. Their mission is to inspire young people to be science and technology leaders.

    PSCSTA Programming Contests: The Pugest Sound Compuer Science Teachers Association (PSCSTA) runs programming contests for High school CS students. Participants spend 3 hours solving programming problems in teams of 1-3 people with 1 computer using the programming language of their choice.

    Math Made Fun Online: Math games and other fun math resources for middle schoolers.
