CSE departmental advisors are happy to meet with prospective students from high schools, community colleges, other universities, and current UW students. Prospective students should attend an information session first, before scheduling an individual appointment. Information sessions provide details about departmental admissions process, degree planning, and opportunities for students. There is no need to RSVP, just attend the one that will fit with your schedule. These are generally small groups of students, and there is always time to ask individual questions.
If you can not make it to an information session or have a question we can answer over e-mail, send messages to: ugrad-advisor and we typically can get back to you within 1-2 business days. Sometimes it takes a bit longer because we are either investigating the answer to your question or we are experiencing a lot of email traffic during busy times of the quarter, but we do our best to make sure your questions are answered in a timely manner.
Drop-in hours are for quick questions (5-10 minutes). Students who wish to see an advisor during drop-in hours should check in at the CSE reception desk in the Paul G. Allen Center for Computer Science & Engineering.
The advisor(s) on duty are listed after the hours.
In addition to in-person advising, CSE advisors are also available to answer quick any time the chat icon below shows that we are online. This service is available to both prospective and current students. All you need to do is click on the button below to in order to initiate a chat with an advisor. If you wish to email your question during off hours, you can do so by clicking the button and filling out the form that comes up. You must enable scripting in order to use the messaging program.
The main CSE office is room 101 of the Paul Allen Center for Computer Science and Engineering, located at 185 Stevens Way (near the center of campus, just south-west of Drumheller fountain). Check in at the front desk for all appointments and drop-in hours.
You can find directions to campus here. For general information about visiting campus, contact the UW's Visitor's Information Center or the Office of Admissions.
