CSE Study Abroad Opportunities

Currently, the CSE department offers three direct exchange agreements: with KTH in Stockholm, Sweden, ETH in Zurich, Switzerland, and Saarland University in Saarbruecken, Germany. All three year-long programs give students the opportunity to take computer science & engineering courses at outstanding international universities with the high likelihood that the classes will transfer back as direct major equivalents.

Please keep in mind that CSE students interested in studying abroad are not limited to these three programs. In particular, opportunities to fulfill language, Areas of Knowledge, and other major requirements abound at institutions around the world. The UW International Programs & Exchange Office provides a helpful search tool for finding UW or departmental exchanges in specific countries of interest.

The CSE study abroad application for the following academic year opens in late January/early February. We will hold an information session on the KTH, ETH, & Saarland exchange programs for interested students in January.

**The 2012-2013 CSE study abroad application is now open. All applications are due on Thursday, February 16th at midnight. Only current CSE majors are eligible to apply.**

Information for Incoming CSE Exchange Students

A comprehenisve checklist for incoming direct exchange students from KTH, ETH, and Saarland is available here.

Information for International Students Interested in CSE Courses

While the department strongly supports international exchange programs, space in undergraduate CSE courses is extremely limited due to the high demand for our major. We strongly encourage students interested in pursuing computer science studies to look into one-for-one exchanges, like the KTH or ETH programs, since they are space-neutral for our courses. If you are a student participating in another exchange program, please work closely with UW International Programs & Exchanges, as well as the CSE advisors, before planning your UW studies, to determine what options are available.
