User interface (UI) design is the design of technology focused on the user's experience and interaction. Products include computers, appliances, machines, mobile communication devices, software applications, and websites.
The goal of UI design is to make the user's interaction as intuitive as possible, and should help the user finish tasks efficiently. This is different than graphic or industrial design, which focus on aesthetics mroe than usability.
UI design spans in a wide range of products; while all UI design involves much of the same basic human interaction, different products require specialized skills and knowledge. As a result, UI designers tend to specialize in certain types of projects and have skills centered around their expertise (for example, web design).
