An Internet or Web application is an application accessed via a network such as the Internet or an intranet.
Web applications are popular because they can be updated and maintained without distributing and installing software on multiple client computers. Web applications are used to implement Webmail, online retail sales, online auctions, wikis, discussion boards, Weblogs, MMORPGs and many other functions.
Web applications undergo the same unit, integration, and system testing as traditional desktop applications; because web application clients may vary greatly, testing might include additional tests, including security and usability.
