Ford Motor Company Transportation Infotronics Scholarships

This scholarship is available only to those students currently enrolled as a Computer Science or Computer Engineering major here at the University of Washington.

FORD MOTOR COMPANY  is a major player in the increasing use of information technology for transportation solutions ranging from automotive control systems all the way to entertainment and Internet connectivity.  Ford is interested in attracting UW/CSE students to its activities in these areas.  Target applications, of course, include cars, but also include Internet-based services for commute optimization, navigation aids, integration with public transportation, etc..  These now make up a larger field being called "Transportation Infotronics".  Ford has provided funding of $750,000 to the Department to further the instruction of embedded systems and Internet-based services in our capstone design courses.  This scholarship is part of that effort.

There will be two scholarships of $5,000 each awarded each year to University of Washington/CS&E students that meet the following criteria:

Academic Year Awardee Amount
2000-2001 Ryan Hennig $5,000
James Macauley $5,000
