To usher in the New Year, we started with a multi course Chinese feast at a local restaurant, Shanghai Shanghai.

I was going around wishing people a happy new year in 3 languages. Then aba and gonggong, the sweets lovers of the family, decided to drive over to the only Krispy Kreme store in the Seattle area (the excuse was to ensure that the new year would be a sweet one, according to some ancient Jewish-Chinese tradition).

This is what we looked like squashed in the back seat of the car.

And boy did I enjoy the piping hot doughnuts! This will surely be a sweet year for my family! I waited patienty (for about 15 seconds) until they came out of the oven.

Then, I helped mama eat her donut, and then I helped popo, and then...

My aba suggested that we play it safe and also take a box home. No problem here!
