The project seemed to move on to a whole new phase when I went on to the deck, cabin, and interior. Here you see how it looked at first. The cockpit and deck were painted a light blue, which reminded me of the color of the walls in the hospital where I had my tonsils removed. It had to go! The cabin top had been covered in Gluvit, which had lasted for 30 years but had reached the end of its lifespan. The wood used for the cabin trunk and cockpit combings is called Lim, and was brought over from southeast Asia by a couple of seebees after the second world war. |
