[7/2003] The CC2001 task force (see above) envisioned a Volume IV which would be a software engineering model curriculum, to be prepared under the oversight of the Software Engineering Education Project (SWEEP).  The curriculum came to be known as CCSE (Computing Curriculum -- Software Engineering).  In the fall of 2001, SWEEP was replaced by the joint IEEE-CS and ACM CCSE Steering Committee.  In July, 2003, the CCSE draft was announced and made available for review.  As of that time, the Steering Committee co-chairs were Rich LeBlanc and Anne Sobel, and the co-editors were Jorge L. Díaz-Herrera and Tom Hilburn.

[Historical footnote: SWEEP operated under the Software Engineering Coordinating Committee (SWEcc).  SWEcc a was joint activity of the education boards of the ACM and the Computer Society of the IEEE-CS.  In June, 2000, the ACM Council voted to remove ACM from SWEcc, ending seven years of joint activity.  Chief reason seems to have been a disagreement between the organizations over the issue of professional licensing.  See the Forum for Advancing Software Engineering Education (FASE), Volume 10 Number 07 (126th Issue - July 15, 2000).]

Previous work on SE curricula:

Don Bagert et al.  Guidelines for Software Engineering Education, Version 1.0.  Carnegie-Mellon Software Engineering Institute, October, 1999.  CMU/SEI-99-TR-032.  The document was prepared by the Working Group on Software Engineering Education and Training (WGSEET).

A project of SWEcc was the Software Engineering Body of Knowledge (SWEBOK).  After processing comments on the Ironman draft, a Trial Version 1.00 was released in April, 2001.
