Hi! My name is Kayur Patel, and I'm a computer science Ph.D. student at the University of Washington. I'm excited and fascinated by software built using machine learning algorithms where behavior is learned from data rather than manually specified in code. I try to understand why applying machine learning is hard and build tools to make development with machine learning easier. As part of the DUB group, I am advised by James Fogarty and James Landay. My work is currently funded by Microsoft in the form of a Microsoft Research Fellowship. Previously I was supported by the US government in the form of a National Defense Science and Engineering Graduate (NDSEG) Fellowship.

I'm on the job market this year (2011-2012). I thrive in environments where I can work on interesting projects with awesome people. Below are links to my research statement, teaching statement and cv.
