I was born in Seoul, Korea, in the summer of 1977. My parents and I immigrated to Brooklyn in 1978. The Yankees won the World Series in both '77 and '78. I probably had nothing to do with this, since I was a baby, and also I have never played baseball for the Yankees.
Later, I grew up in the New York suburbs, first in northern Westchester and then in north Bergen, two counties most notable for their enormously profitable shopping malls.
I attended NYU as an undergrad, and graduated with a double major in English and American Literature and Computer Science. Along the way I developed a predictable taste for postmodern American fiction and poppy seed bagels with lox.
I currently live in the University District of Seattle. In the summers I hike; in the winters I snowboard; and I play ultimate all year round, at least if I'm feeling energetic. I also watch lots of international film. Between the mountain trails, the ski resorts, the ultimate leagues, and SIFF, Seattle is a great place to do all of the above, so this is working out pretty well for me. I do miss the poppy seed bagels and lox though.
