The actual essay reads:
I think one of the strangest and funniest looking creatures is the axolotl. They are only little salamanders that never reach their adult stage, but they're very funny looking, with little slit-like mouths and gills that look like orange seaweed.
They live only in lakes or rivers around Mexico City. Nowhere else in the world (in the wild) have they been found. Because of this, I think that they must be endangered, since they live in only one small part of the world. Even so, they are not officially listed as being endangered.
Axolotls have very strange eating habits. When young, they eat only plankton. As they get older, they graduate to water fleas, then tadpoles or even injured fish. I said that they have strange eating habits, and I think they do because they sink to the bottom to eat, never eating on the surface of the water, or even in the middle, and, also, they will not eat anything that they did not catch themselves, or that they did not see moving about the water before it was killed.
Axolotls are very strange and subtle creatures who, to my surprise, are common classroom pets, which is weird because usually all they do is wait on the bottom until they see some prey, and then they just kill it and go to the bottom again. But, even if they are boring, I still think they're interesting, and cute in their own way, if you know what I mean.
