Exit Conditions (Signals received while in this step that prompt a transfer)

Condition Next Step Description
Setup_Completed Punch Hole in the Sinus The parameters for this particular run of the simulation have been set, so now we're ready to start.

Triggered Events (Signals [possibly] transmitted from within this step)

Condition Signal Emitted
One of each of the procedure-specific signals has been selected; the setup is complete Setup_Completed

Because this is the state in which we start the simulation, we automatically emit all of the following signals when we enter this state. Together, they define the initial state of the surgery that is the same for every surgery, regardless of the patient's identity, age, etc. These are basic states of the body (i.e. the tumor is not visible), tool location (everything outside of the skull), etc.

In addition to the signals that are always activated at the start of the procedure, there are sets of signals that must be activated depending on the particular surgery. These define things like the type of tumor being removed, the thickness of the patient's sella turcica, etc. One and only one signal from each of the following groups must be activated; the activation will have to be done manually through a user interface displayed during this step of the simulation.
