Map

The following is a map of the sequencing of the steps in a generic pituitary procedure. A specific procedure will follow one trajectory through the map. The arrows representing the transitions between steps are conditional; certain trajectories can only be taken in certain cases, which are detailed in the explanation of that step.

The different color groups link together steps that are psychologically similar in the mind of the surgeon during the operation. These are mostly chronological similarities, and serve only to organize the map in a comprehensible manner. The groups aren't reflected in the specific descriptions of each step. In brief, their explanations are:

Jump to Start.
Jump to Open Dura Mater.
Jump to Extract Center of Macroadenoma.
Jump to Locate Microadenoma.
Jump to Stop Carotid Bleeding.
Jump to Final Hemostasis.
Jump to signal list.
Jump to list of haptic constraints.
