I came to the University of Washington after 6 years as a high-tech recruiter and completion of graduate programs in Student Development and Curriculum and Instruction at Seattle University.  My experience in higher education comes from serving as a Collegium Coordinator and Teaching Assistant at Seattle University, a Passages Orientation Intern at the University of Puget Sound, and conducting research in areas related to social interdependence, experiential learning, and constructive controversy.  While working in high-tech I created and implemented the hiring plans for companies with product offerings in the unified messaging, internet commerce, and microelectronics industries.  The highlight of my career in human resources was creating and rolling out regional and national college recruiting programs and working with new grads as they struggled with the perennial question of, “what should I do with my life?”   Advising students in UW’s Computer Science and Computer Engineering programs allows me to bring together my experience with employment and career-related issues in the technology sector and my enjoyment of working with college students.

Outside of work, my passions for international travel and photography draw me to the far corners of the globe whenever I get the chance.  I am drawn to the small town, low-to-the ground experiences that only locals often see, which means that I sometimes find myself in unique situations.  Whether I am getting a lesson from a Fijian police officer on how to husk a coconut using only a metal stake, marveling at the use of celebratory gunfire to commemorate a wedding on the Greek island of Folegandros, or weaving through the streets of Ho Chi Minh City on the back of a moped, you can bet that I have a smile on my face and my camera ready for whatever comes my way.
