I discovered student services when I was an undergrad at the UW, as a summer orientation leader and as assistant to the Washington State Achievers Schoalrship program coordinator.

I also interned at the Washington Education Foundation and a design studio downtown, and worked as an editor and designer at The Daily and The Anthology Project (a travel journal from the Comparative History of Ideas department). I lived in the dorms, studied abroad, did all the normal student stuff, and graduated with a degree in Interdisciplinary Visual Art and the Comparative History of Ideas (basically a lot of painting, drawing, reading, and talking).

After a year as a UW Admissions Counselor (I may have visited your high school or met you at a college fair), I joined CSE and happily found the department to be friendly, creative, and committed to improving lives through technology.

I'm a big fan of working with prospective students and pre-majors. I lead CSE 190a, a seminar that helps women in CSE 142 and 143 explore majors and careers in technology. I love meeting the smart women who take the class every quarter.
