Structural Modeling for Anatomy

Project Summary

This work defines a spatial symbolic models for anatomy applications including education and radiation treatment planning. We are defining the Anatomical Structural Abstraction, a formal model of the anatomy of the human body, including models of the structure and spatial arrangements of the organs. Current research topics include modeling anatomical entities, retrieving and displaying anatomical information, and reasoning about the relationships among organs, organ parts, and organ features. Future work includes how the organs develop and how they are transformed.
