Mist above Cub Lake
Glacier Peak Wilderness, Washington
July 1989
After nine sunny days crossing glaciers high on the ``Ptarmagan
Traverse,'' we began our return to civilization by dropping down past the
tree line. The first rays of sun warmed the fogbound waters of Cub Lake,
causing the mists to rise, and imbuing the rainforest with an eerie
and exotic light.
