UW CSE Alumni Services - Email & Web Forwarding
CSE computer accounts for students who graduate from CSE are kept active for one quarter beyond the quarter in which they graduate. During that three-month period, we encourage you to find an alternate service provider and transfer any files you wish to keep.
After your CSE account has expired, we will continue to forward mail sent to your original CSE email address indefinitely. And we will redirect any reference to your personal CSE web page to your new web address.
What happens with your @cs.washington.edu email going forward depends upon how your mail is currently handled:
- If you are using a CSE "cloud service" for your @cs.washington.edu email (that is, either Outlook Live or Gmail via CSE Google Apps Education Edition), nothing will change. We will keep your email account alive indefinitely. You need do nothing.
- If you have a local mailbox at CSE, or have us direct it to an email alias, you will use the AfterCollege mechanism to configure email forwarding.
In any event, your original CSE account name will be preserved indefinitely.
AfterCollege Forwarding
To use AfterCollege forwarding services, all you need to do is register yourself in the CSE Alumni Directory at AfterCollege. The email address you enter will serve as your AfterCollege username, and we will be notified that your account has been set up, and will begin forwarding your CSE mail to that address. Please allow 48-72 hours for updates to propagate through our systems.
NOTE: when you register, use your CURRENT email address (the address you want your email forwarded to), not your @cs address, and only register ONCE. Also, where it asks for your UWCSE username, be sure to put in your CSENetID. If you have any problems with the system, please email the CSE alumni administrator.
If you do NOT wish to have your CSE email forwarded to your current account, please send an email to the alumni administrator, and we will disable forwarding on your account.
This service is available for all CSE alumni.
