ATTENTION INSTRUCTORS:

We are preparing instructional lab facilities for Fall, 2008. We need to know what software you would like to use in teaching your class, so we can verify that your request can be accomodated, and then arrange for appropriate resources and facilities for all courses. Please be aware that requests cannot always be accomodated, due to resource limitations (e.g., availability of the software, special needs that aren't available, etc.)

Please let us know what you need - there will be a one-to-two week lead time to add new things to the mix of stuff already in the labs. Follow these steps:

  1. Locate the course(s) you are teaching in the Course Resources Database (link below).

  2. Verify the OS and Languages information listed for your course. The preliminary information shown in the table was taken from the most recent quarter this course was taught (typically only for the past couple of years.)

  3. Something missing or wrong? Notify course-computing@cs. Tell us if any of the information shown for your course is incorrect, incomplete or needs updating in any way, and provide the correct information or the software or facilities you would like to use. NB:  if you need software that is not already available in the department, it may be too late to acquire the software and install it in time for the beginning of the quarter. If you would like to use software that is not listed below anywhere, please notify us immediately, and we'll see what we can do.

  4. Everything just right? Notify course-computing@cs. (So we don't stay in the dark, not knowing for sure whether we've got this right.)

The Fine Print:
  • All courses are assumed to be using computing for web and email access, so it it not necessary to tell us about that. A single hypermail archive is also available to all courses by default. But for resource allocation purposes, we do need to know about all the other languages and software your course will need. So tell us about everything other than email, a single hyperarchive, and a course web.
  • The assigned laboratory may change, based on load and other constraints. (If you have comments, suggestions or questions on the best lab for your course, please let us know.)
  • Once we have received your feedback, the Status column will be marked "Verifying". Once we have confirmed that the resources you request can be provided, the third column will be marked "Confirmed". If an entry does NOT switch to "Confirmed" within a few days of sending your request, there may be problems providing that resource. If that is the case, YOU SHOULD INQUIRE!

Instructors: To verify or submit resoure requests for your course, first check the

Course Computing Resource Database

Then send your requests to: course-computing@cs.
