Welcome!
To the CSE Student & Instructional Labs
in the Allen Center


Lab facilities are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, to all CSE students and others enrolled in CSE majors and graduate courses, subject to access restrictions as noted. General access labs and the Unix Cycle Servers are available for any use that furthers student educational goals. Special purpose labs and the Web, Database and Project Servers are limited to use by students enrolled in specific courses.

A large variety of software is available for both Windows and Unix systems. The software installed in these labs may vary slightly, based on the needs of the courses being taught in any given quarter. A list of all courses for the current quarter, and what laboratory resources they are using is here.

All labs are open and available most of the time; however, there are some exceptions:

These four servers – one Windows and three Unix – are assigned to specific courses on a quarterly basis, and usage policies are governed by instructors of those courses. In general, no more than one course will be assigned to a given project server. See the Course Computing list for current Project Server assignments.)
Google Cluster Hadoop A cluster of nodes running the Hadoop software framework - part of the IBM/Google Initiative to support Internet scale computing challenges. Use of this cluster requires permission of a CSE faculty member, and a special account.
Ugrad Computing Resources A list of computing resources available to CSE undergraduates, including ways to get help and resolve problems related to the use of the laboratories.
