The Special Projects Lab (Sieg Hall, room 324) is used on a rotating basis by courses that have unusual needs -- needs that cannot be met by the general instructional labs.

These unusual needs might be special hardware or software (such as special telephony interfaces, or trackballs, or software where usage is strictly limited by the type of licensing we are able to obtain, or a different operating system). Or the need might be an atypical way of operating; for instance, with teams that require several machines operating together, or running simulations that involve long periods of unattended use, or hacking kernels.

Courses that need the SPL facility include:

Autumn Winter Spring
none CSE 490GK CSE 481

Normally, the SPL, and/or the machines in the SPL, will be available only to students enrolled in one of the classes listed above (controlled with keycard access ).
